She reads
what horses
cannot say.

The pinned ears before the buck. The brace in the ribcage before the bolt. The soft eye that means a thousand-pound animal finally trusts the hand on its neck.

"She finally let me touch her ears."

The Consultant

Raised on fence lines.
Fluent in horse.

I grew up in the Blue Ridge foothills where you learned to read a horse before you learned to read a room. Twenty years of barns, rescues, problem horses, and patient mornings taught me that there is no such thing as a bad horse — only a horse who hasn't been heard yet.

My work is slow on purpose. I sit at the fence. I watch. I let the horse tell me where the conversation needs to start. By the time I pick up a lead rope, I already know the answer.
